This instructable will show you everything you need to put together a pretty good sized electric solar panel system. Things you will need:
Supplies: Solar panels, Charge controller, Battery charger, 2 AWG cable, At least one 12 Volt marine deep cycle battery, Mechanical lugs, 1 power inverter, 1 Rubbermaid tote or other container, 1 battery charger
Tools: Cable cutters, Red electrical tape, Screwdriver, Drill, Crescent Wrench

Have you been thinking about installing solar panels for your home, but been discouraged because the cost is too high? Here in Montana, my family and I saved 40 percent on the cost of a solar electric system by buying a kit and doing the installation ourselves.
Small wind-electric systems can provide electricity on remote, off-grid sites, or right in town connected to the utility grid. Although wind systems require more maintenance and need more attention than solar-electric or microhydro-electric systems, if you invest up front in good equipment, design, and installation, wind-electric systems can make economic and environmental sense. They also bring a great deal of satisfaction—there´s nothing quite like watching your wind generator convert a summer breeze or a winter storm into electrical energy.
