oso disasterIndividuals can make a difference in their own community but not everyone has bought into preparedness. Research on personal preparedness indicates that individuals who believe they are prepared for disasters often are not as prepared as they think. In addition, some admit they do not plan to prepare at all.

Eco Friendly Shelters provides a step-by-step approach to disaster preparedness by walking the clients through how to get informed about local emergency plans, how to identify hazards that affect their local area and how to develop and maintain an emergency communications plan and disaster supplies kit. Other topics covered include evacuation, emergency public shelters, animals in disaster and information specific to people with access and functional needs.

Eco Friendly Shelters also provides in-depth information on specific hazards including what to do before, during and after each hazard type. The following hazards are covered: Floods, Tornadoes, Hurricanes, Thunderstorms and Lightning, Winter Storms and Extreme Cold, Extreme Heat, Earthquakes, Volcanoes, Landslide and Debris Flows (Mudslide), Tsunamis, Fires, Wildfires.

Addtionally, Eco Friendly Shelters team has designed, architected and built models of hazard-proof emergency shelters. These types of shelters are earthquake-, tornado-, hurricane- and flood-proof. We utilize sandbag construction in these types of shelters. They can serve as short- to long-term purpose dwellings for victims and those affected by sush disasters.
